It sticks without sticking
A window cling has no glue on it. It holds to glass by static, which means it goes up in seconds, comes off in seconds, and leaves nothing behind to scrape or solvent off.
That one property decides who should buy it. If the graphic is going to change — a seasonal promotion, a sale, event dates, new opening hours, a menu that updates — a cling is the right answer, because taking it down is not a job. If the graphic is going up once and staying for years, you want clear vinyl instead, which is properly adhesive and will not be knocked off by a door slam or a cleaner.
The other advantage nobody mentions: you can keep it. A cling peeled off carefully and stored flat goes back up next year. Businesses that run the same seasonal promotion annually get several years out of one order.
Inside or outside — and which side reads
Two dropdowns that catch people out. Get them right and the graphic reads correctly to the people you care about.
The calculator asks two separate questions, and they are genuinely different.
Where the cling is applied — the inside face of the glass or the outside face. Inside is protected from weather, hands and vandalism, and is what most storefronts choose. Outside is for glass you cannot reach from within, or where the inside face is obstructed.
Where the graphic is viewed from — who the message is for. A promotion aimed at people on the sidewalk is viewed from outside. A notice for people already in the room is viewed from inside.
When those two answers differ — applied inside, viewed from outside — the artwork has to be printed in reverse so it reads correctly through the glass. That is what the second dropdown is telling us to do. Answer both honestly and we will print it the right way round.

Questions we get asked
Clean glass is what matters. A cling on glass that still has cleaner residue or dust on it will creep and drop — that is almost always the cause, not the heat. Wipe the glass with plain water, let it dry fully, then apply. Avoid ammonia cleaners right before.
Start at one edge and smooth across with a credit card or a squeegee rather than laying the whole thing down at once. Bubbles can be pushed to the nearest edge. If it goes badly, peel it off and start again — that is the advantage of no adhesive.
Clings are for flat interior-facing glass and are not made for the outside of a vehicle at highway speed. For vehicle glass you want perforated window film, which is designed for it and lets you still see out.
Flat, with the backing sheet it came on, somewhere that does not get hot. Rolled or folded clings take a set and never sit quite flat again.
